Frequently Asked Questions
Many of our customers have specific questions about our professional carpet cleaning services. Here are just a few of the frequently asked questions we have been asked in the past…
Booking Questions
Why can't you give me a specific time when i book?
Unfortunately we are only able to offer slots Mon-Fri AM or PM (08:00-12:00) or (12:00-17:00) In this trade you never know whats around the corner… Some ovens and carpets take longer than others, we may have cancellations on the day or may get stuck in traffic. It’s alot safer to give an arrival slot so we can always fulfill our promise.
How do you take payment?
Payments accepted are Cash or Bank Transfer (payments must be received whilst the cleaner is on site). Please note that unless previously agreed, payment must be made on the day.
What is your cancellation policy?
If cancelling within less than 1 working day notice we do reserve the right to charge full price.
Carpet Cleaning Questions
How often should my carpets be cleaned?
We personally recommend every 6-12 months. Dependent on the footfall your carpet is subjected too.
What machines do you use to clean carpets and are you insured?
Yes we are all fully trained & insured individually up to £1,000,000. We are currently using the Prochem Steempro Powerplus, with an upgraded 250psi induction pump. Dual 3-stage vacuum power with built in silencer. We also have vacuum cleaners, Powermate attachments, Heat & Run attachments and Air Dryers if required.
Do Express Carpet Cleaning move the furniture?
We can move certain items of furniture such as a sofa or two, but are limited due to health and safety legislation. As such, if you have any items of furniture that you definitely need moved, it is best to do this prior to our arrival e.g. wardrobes and double beds. Also small items such as Magazine Racks, Bins, Shoe Racks etc should also be cleared in advance
If you are moving furniture, we do recommend allowing 24 hours before moving them back onto the carpets.
What should I do before you arrive?
Please ensure we have access to running warm water. It is also very important that the carpet is vacuumed before we arrive. It would also be very helpful if prior to arrival you can remove items on the floor from areas to be cleaned e.g. shoes, toys etc. Also, if you have valuable items on any pieces of furniture that will require moving, could you please move these to a safe location. Because of the weight limit to what can be moved by our carpet cleaners, please move any heavily items.
I live in a flat without a lift, is that a problem?
All professional carpet cleaning machines are very big and very heavy, so getting up the stairs is not possible with just one operative. Unfortunately we are unable to carry out this type of job.
Can you guarantee to remove stains?
This is something we cannot guarantee. Due to the amount of variables e.g. nature of the stain, type of carpet, age of the stain, if you’ve tried treating it yourself etc, no professional carpet cleaner can ever give you an absolute guarantee on stains. However we will always give an honest opinion before attempting to remove the stain.
Can you remove pet hair?
The hot water extraction process will remove a considerable amount of pet hair, but we cannot guarantee removing it all. Only regular vacuuming will do this.
How long will my carpet take to dry?
Drying time will vary depending on the thickness of your carpet, weather conditions and air circulation in your home. Normally your carpets will be dry in 4 to 12 hours, but in some instances can take up to 12-24 hours.
What do you use for stain treatments?
All our technicians carry a wide variety of different solutions that can help them tackle even the most tricky of stains. Some of those we use include:
- Stain Pro – For use on blood, vomit, ink, and general food and drink
- Multi Pro and Trafficlean – Sprayed on to carpet to help release soil from the pile, thus making it easier for us to extract.
- Coffee Stain Removed- For the removal of coffee stains, tea, beer, tannin, water marks and other yellow and brown discolorations
- Clensan – Good for yoghurt and milk.
- Citrus Gel – For oil based stains, grease, tar, gum and other oily spots
- Solvent Spotter – Good on make up, ink, paint etc. (Cannot be used on carpet tiles with bitumen backing due to it reacting with the bitumen)
- Filter Out – For draught lines near doors and walls
- Red RX – For food and drink with red dye as well as carbonated drinks, fruit juices and wine stains
- Rust Remover – For the Removal of rust stains
- Urine Neutraliser – Neutralises odour from urine deposits on contact and prevents staining
